Dario Di Mella was born in Bari (BA) on December 10, 1980.

He attended the "Galileo Galilei" scientific high school in the city of Bitonto (BA), where he obtained his scientific high school diploma in July 1999.

In September 1999 he enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of the University of Bari, moving on to the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bari in 2003, where he graduated in 2006 with a dissertation in Contemporary History with the title " Peron and the government of the generals".

In 2005 he started working in an audiovisual production company for television, working on the set of "Black Ice" directed by Giuseppe Falagario, as an assistant cameraman, for 5 months.

Also in 2005 he enrolled at the Boys-Enziteto Academy of Cinema, where he studied subjects such as directing, editing, film photography, sound, screenwriting. The film school, which ends in 2008, is also characterized by the creation of numerous short films, documentaries, commercials.

In 2006 he resumed full-time work in television, which sees him employed as cinematographer, editor, steadycam operator and jimmy jib operator.

In 2009 he left his job in television to work as director of photography and operator exclusively for film productions.

Since 2012 he has become a partner of Intergea srl, an Italian production company, with which he produces, co-produces commercials, short films and award-winning international documentaries as well as offering executive production services for films and series.

Since 2013 he has been teaching photography direction collaborating permanently with various training institutes such as the Academy of Cinema Ragazzi-Enziteto of Bari, the Luiss School of writing for cinema of the Roman university, the school of photography and direction "Spazio Tempo" , the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari and Foggia and the "Tiberio Fiorilli" School of Cinema.

Over the years he has collaborated with Italian directors such as Alessandro Piva, Pippo Mezzapesa, Luca Medici aka Checco Zalone, Paola Randi, Paolo Sassanelli, Beppe Cino, Igor Borghi, and with foreign directors working as a camera operator in "Padre Pio" by Abele Ferrara with Shia LaBeouf, as cinematographer with Chris Gero, director 9 times emmy award, for the documentary The Sound of us, always as cinematographer with Gustavo Cotta, famous among others of the TV series Paso Adelante and Kally's Mashup, in the Nickelodeon USA TV series “Club 57”, with Stephan Freiss, in his debut “Alla vita”, with Riccardo Scamarcio and Lou de Laâge, with Vivianne Rise Jundi Costa for her Detective do predio Azul 2, and with Alexandre Valenti for the Maestro, a documentary on Francesco Lotoro as camera operator.

He has to his credit more than 200 cinematographic works including feature films, short films, documentaries, music videos, commercials, receiving numerous personal awards.
